Hi, I'm Ron Mecredy, owner and operator of BC Forest Waste and Fibre Services, located in Campbell River, BC.
As owner of BC Forest Waste and Fibre Services Ltd., my goal is to provide the forest industry across the province with assistance in implementation and use of the new waste measurement procedures announced April 1, 2019.
I have been working in the forest industry since 1978 when I started my career working for BCFP as a silviculture technician. I soon realized I preferred big trees over little ones, so I moved into timber cruising and waste surveys.
In 1988 I opened Mecredy Cruising and Forest Consulting Ltd. specializing in waste surveys, timber cruising and VRI inventory sampling.
In 2011 I moved to government as the Coastal Waste and Cruising Specialist followed in 2015 by a position with Timber Pricing Branch as Provincial Waste Specialist.
I have been a member of the ABCFP as an RFT since 2004 and was a member of the Forest Measurements Board from 1999 to 2010, holding the position of chairman from 2001 to 2010.
From 2015 to 2019 I worked with Timber Pricing Branch with the development of the new Interior waste survey procedures, development of the EForwasteBC and Harvest Residue Compiler software applications.
In 2019 I returned to the life of a private contractor with the goal of providing forest measurement training in the final years of my career. In the past four years I have presented twelve waste survey courses and trained 165 surveyors and forest professionals in the new waste procedures.
I take pride in providing balanced, experienced and reasonable advice regarding the many forest measurement challenges that exist in the forest industry.
